Chasing Amanda Review

Title: Chasing Amanda
Author: Melissa Foster
Genre: Mystery, Suspense
Pages: 409

Blurb:
Nine years ago, Molly Tanner witnessed a young girl's abduction in the busy city of Philadelphia, shifting her occasional clairvoyance into overdrive. Two days later, the girl's body was found, and Molly's life fell apart. Consumed by guilt for not acting upon her visions, and on the brink of losing her family, Molly escaped the torturous reminders in the city, fleeing to the safety of the close-knit rural community of Boyds, Maryland.

Molly's life is back on track, her son has begun college, and she and her husband have finally rekindled their relationship. Their fresh start is shattered when a seven-year-old girl disappears from a local park near Molly's home. Unable to turn her back on another child and troubled by memories of the past, Molly sets out to find her, jeopardizing the marriage she'd fought so hard to hold together. While unearthing clues and struggling to decipher her visions, Molly discovers another side of Boyds, where the residents--and the land itself--hold potentially lethal secrets, and exposes another side of her husband, one that threatens to tear them apart.

My Review: Chasing Amanda pulled me in from the very first paragraph and kept a hold until the very last. As the story unfolded and introduced me to the characters I found myself relating to them all and the emotions that they all stirred in each other.Melissa Foster does an excellent job of making sure you are kept on the edge of  your seat.
This story takes you through the abduction of a seven year old girl but, from the very beginning you realize there is so much more to discover here besides who the guilty party is. As you twist and turn maneuvering your way page by page another secret is revealed.
I was completely into this story! Chasing Amanda is everything I have ever looked for in a mystery it left me regretting putting it down so I could sleep at night. I am looking forward to reading more books by Melissa Foster as I believe I may have found me another favorite Author!

Goddess's Choice Review

Title: The Goddess's Choice
Author: Jamie Marchant
Genre: Period Fantasy
Pages: 385

Blurb: Samantha’s ability enables her to discern a person’s character through their multi-colored aura, and Robrek’s makes him the strongest healer the kingdom has seen in centuries. But their gifts also endanger their lives. Royals scheme to usurp the throne by marrying or killing Samantha, and priests plot to burn Robrek at the stake. Robrek escapes the priests only to be captured by Samantha’s arch-enemy, Duke Argblutal; Argblutal intends to force the princess to marry him by exploiting Robrek’s powers. To save their own lives and stop the realm from sinking into civil war, Robrek and Samantha must consolidate their powers and unite the people behind them.

My Review: If you are into sword and sorcery this is a book you need to read. Jamie Marchant does an excellent  job of making this story come alive on the pages. Every character from the main to the most minor is easily believable and every scene makes you feel as though you were right there. I never lost interest in The Goddess's Choice it kept me wanting to know more with every turn of the page. The sword fighting scenes at time could be very graphic but were interesting to read. I enjoyed the way this book played out and look forward to more in this series.

Codename Fairy Godmother Reassigned Review

Title: Codename Fairy Godmother Reassigned
Author: Tanjlisa Marie
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy
Pages: 290

Blub: What do you get when you splice TOMB RAIDER’s Lara Croft with Tinker Bell?
Meet Agent Thunder, a kick-butt Huntress with the Fairy Godmother Organization (FGO). Find out what happens when the FGO’s #1 bounty hunter encounters Earth’s most infamous villain and gets REASSIGNED for her own protection. While in her fairy godmother protection program, Agent Thunder is eventually tracked down by Ciaran, the alluring terminator-leprechaun that she went into hiding to evade in the first place. Ciaran, a seasoned seducer gains the fairy godmother’s trust and introduces her to experiences she’s never even contemplated. He doesn’t appear to be as menacing as Agent Thunder was led to believe . . . or so she thought. As they spend more time together and feelings evolve, she soon discovers the life-altering truth, not only about the villainy leprechaun, but about conspiracies surrounding the FGO, and everything she's ever held as gospel. If you like chicks that kick butt, conflicted villains, arbitrary fight scenes, nude fairy godmothers, terminator-leprechauns, pixies, conspiracies, or hot and heavy petting, then this book is for you.

My Review: When I first received this book for review I was totally excited as I am a total fairie fanatic. I started reading and thought wow this is a cool book then I hit a spot that was even to fairy foo foo for me. I am a total girly girl most of the time but this chapter of the book was just to much. Admittedly I did find it comical and fun and it did not keep me from reading further. I laughed out loud several times while reading REASSIGNED and completely enjoyed the book and am anxious for the next installment of this saga.
Now all that being said, the characters in this book are very vividly written and held my attention the whole time. Agent Thunder is a total kick butt fairy I can say I wouldn't take her on as she could inflict some pretty nasty blows. She meets her mate that can match her blow for blow when Ciaran enters the picture. Not only does he set her world to spinning but he leaves her with so many questions that she needs answers for. The mix of these two characters was awesome! I love how REASSIGNED comes together and honestly can say I would recommend this book completely I would however say it may not be appropriate for anyone under the age of 14 due to some of the sexual content. Please take a look at this book and maybe even read it you won't regret it!

But unfortunately for them, none of them can remember who that evil might be.

With that evil destroying the bonds that hold them so close to one another, wreaking destruction upon the world, and attempting to claim Dessa’s life at every available turn, Dessa realizes that her true destiny can no longer be avoided.

When it all comes down to it, Dessa must either forfeit herself, her power, and her will to live, or she must give up the lives of the entire world – of those she sought to protect. Can she make the ultimate sacrifice? Or is she just as spineless as the enemy believes her to be?

My Review: I loved this book.  Poison totally captured my attention. I enjoyed every aspect of it. Dejana Vuletic's style of writing was absolutely wonderful. She made this story jumped right off the pages from the very start and it didn't ever stop. For me to be able to to this review properly I would have to give away the plot and I can not ruin the book for anyone else. I can tell you that Poison is more than worth reading it is worth owning. I look forward to future writings by Dejana Vuletic.

Title: Moments Collide
Author: Angella Graff
Genre: Contemporary fiction
Pages: 328

Blurb: Felix LaPage was a young man with huge musical aspirations. Growing up, Felix developed a love of music, and with his cello, worked his way through school to try and become a musical success.

However, that's not the whole story. While working toward his musical dreams, Felix met a woman who would change the course of his life, but not necessarily in a good way. With this woman, Rayne, Felix learns that not everyone is kind or selfless. Struggling through Rayne's verbal and emotional abuse, Felix also must face getting over her multiple affairs.

It's one night, on a long train-ride home, where Felix meets a young woman who shows him a different path, a path that could lead to his own personal happiness, free of struggle and pain. It's up to Felix, however, to choose whether or not he's meant to walk the painful path with Rayne, or a path that allows him to be free.

Review: Moments Collide is a book that had me questioning if there truly are beginnings and endings or if life truly is about moments that happen. I began reading this story not sure exactly where it would take me but, I soon realized I had a connection with the main character Felix LaPage and needed to know his story. This is written in first person and I loved it I felt like I was Felix and it was if he was sitting at a desk writing out his life story. As each page told me more and more about Felix and his friends and his life I began to understand him more. His love of music and the raw talent he had for the cello was beautiful. Then enters Rayne a woman who ripped Felix to the very fiber of his being. She was relentless with her fits. I constantly felt the need to ask how can you love someone like this and why would you stay? Then it hit me she was his comfort zone it was what he knew and was to afraid to change for fear that he could end up with worse. So for a decade Felix stayed. Then one day by complete chance life showed him a different path and the beauty that went with it for a brief moment. Would he take the chance would he finally step out of that zone? I had to continue reading I had to know if he took that leap of faith that so many people are afraid of and to my complete amazement and joy he did. I wanted to jump for joy. I was totally taken back by the amount of emotion that Moments Collide bought out in me and how I related to the main character I began to see how much my own story in life related to Felix. I wanted him to have that happiness we all seek out to find and to grab a hold of. Angella Graff did a wonderful job with this story and shows us the sometimes there are no beginnings and no endings just moments that collide. I am in complete joy over this book I truly loved the story! I recommend this book to any of you true believers pick it up and read this one with your heart!

Review of 50/50 and Other Stories

Title: 50/50 and other stories
Author: Matthew W McFarland
Genre: Mixed
Pages:  68

Blurb: In 'Fifty/Fifty', a policeman is called out to an attempted suicide on the iconic Forth Rail Bridge. His previous experience with 'jumpers' has led to one death and one life saved - his current record is fifty/fifty, but all that is about to change.

In 'Defenestration', a man is thrown from the twelfth story of a building in mysterious circumstances. As he falls towards almost certain death, he contemplates his fate, killer whales, flying cats, and the untapped potential of the human mind.

In 'The Burning Bar', a man enters a burning building to rescue the love of his life, and becomes trapped, as the whole place collapses around him. Will he manage to escape before it is too late?

'What Have You Done?' deals with the legacy of the conflict in Northern Ireland, as a civil servant comes face to face with an ex-terrorist, leading him to discover how the previous generation coped with living through the worst of the Troubles.

These, and seven other stories, touching on sport, fatherhood, arachnophobia, faith, and cannibalism, make up an exciting collection of short fiction which will leave readers wanting more.

Review: 50/50 was terrific book. Matthew McFarland did a fabulous job with his book. Each story was very descriptive and pulled me in I felt as though I was in each story I read. He used the descriptions so creatively and they were in no way over done.
I liked 50/50 very much. I enjoyed each story in the book completely and would really like to read any future writings that Mr. McFarland may do.

Review of Tight Spaces

Title: Tight Spaces
Author: Kenra Daniels
Genre: Adult Erotica
Reviewed format: PDF ARC
Pages: 72

Blurb: A lonely woman goes dancing with friends to kick the Bad Breakup Anniversary Blues. Her fantasy-man is willing to help, until her lowlife ex ambushes him.

With the first anniversary of the messy break up of a long-term relationship bearing down, Amy has the blues. When her friends suggest an evening at the Double Dare, she reluctantly agrees to go along. She doesn't do the casual sex thing, but it'll be good to spend time with her friends.

Seeing Jesse at the Double Dare immediately cheers her up. She's fantasized over him for months. The evening gets more pleasant as they heat up the dance floor. Things go from hot to sizzling, until her ex shows up and confronts Amy in a low blow. Will his interference deter Jesse from continuing what could be the start of something wonderful?

My Review
This felt like it was part of a bigger story but it wasn't, and that threw for a minute or so. I was also a little embarrassed as I realized I was reading erotica I don't normally read that genre of books. I will say though that this was written fairly tastefully which was sort of surprising. Most of the time people say erotica and link it with porn or smut and I did not get that with Tight Spaces. I believe Amy and Jesse had the perfect mix of chemistry as well as true heart felt feelings for one another. They were not a random hook up or one night stand.

To my surprise I truly liked the book as I felt there was an actual plot to it and not just sex. I do wish there had been a bit more to the story as Tight Spaces did leave me with some unanswered questions. All in all though it was a good book.

I give Tight Spaces 3 out of 5

Time to get to busines

I just want to say that I vowed to read any books that were sent to me and give them an honest and fair review that being said I may at times post reviews for books that not all my members care for. I am not going to censor my reviews because some may not like that it may contain adult content, violence, or bad language. This is the only time I will mention this.
